Job Overview

The Cash Processor will be responsible for receiving, processing, and reconciling cash and coin deposits for SBV Services’ clients. The role involves operating specialised equipment, following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and ensuring all transactions are accurate, secure, and completed within agreed service level agreements (SLAs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive cash deposits and enter them into the appropriate system.
  • Inspect containers and bags for damage or tampering; report any anomalies to the Team Controller.
  • Acknowledge receipt of containers/bags in the system.
  • Process deposits according to bank SLAs and SOPs, ensuring all work is completed on the same day.
  • Prepare workstations for efficient note counting and sorting.
  • Sort notes for FDP/ACDP deposits and handle rejected notes according to procedure.
  • Record deposit details on a board (client name, date, denominations, bundles, operator name) and display it to the camera.
  • Balance each deposit, report differences, and complete the production sheet.
  • Sign the downtime register for any equipment breakdowns.
  • Perform end‑of‑day balancing and reconciliation for all cash received.
  • Manually check rejected notes for counterfeits, dye‑staining, or mutilation.
  • Process bulk coin deposits, sort teller coin transfers, and manage coin bags.
  • Clear machine jams and maintain equipment by reporting defects.
  • Validate system‑integrated transactions and notify client services of any account mismatches.
  • Process payroll and change transactions within SLA timeframes, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Assist with packing and unpacking of bank and ATM cash, managing consumables and seal numbers.
  • Follow ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and support SBV’s ESG initiatives.
  • Promote the department’s values, act as a change‑management ambassador, and communicate new processes effectively.

Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics Literacy.
  • At least 6 months of cashier or teller experience (advantageous).

This position offers a valuable 12‑month work experience program designed to develop practical cash‑handling skills and provide exposure to banking operations. Candidates will work closely with experienced team members and receive training on industry‑standard equipment and procedures.
