Duties and Responsibilities
As a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant, your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks crucial to the pharmaceutical care process. Below is a detailed list of your key duties:
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines.
- Support the compounding and preparation of non-sterile medicines under a pharmacist’s supervision.
- Help in the manufacturing of non-sterile medicines according to standard operating procedures.
- Engage in re-packaging and distribution of medicines.
- Contribute to the ordering of medicines following authorized instructions.
- Interpret and prepare prescriptions accurately, ensuring correct labeling and supply.
- Capture script details and verify patients’ information in the system.
- Ensure accurate picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medications.
- Provide clear instructions to patients about their medication.
- Stay updated on changes in medical aid procedures for claims.
- Ensure all medications are verified and signed off by a pharmacist.
- Advise patients at the dispensary, including support for self-medication.
