Job Overview

The Marshaller reports to the Supervisor Marshalling and is responsible for safely guiding aircraft to and from parking bays on the airport apron. The role includes inspecting parking bays, communicating with pilots, operating docking equipment, and reporting safety issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect parking bays before use to ensure they meet safety standards.
• Determine if a bay is serviceable; request a change if the bay is unsafe.
• Place and confirm chocks, then inform the pilot that chocks are in place.
• Use clear, approved hand signals during the parking process.
• Ensure the aircraft is parked in the correct position.
• Program and monitor the automated docking system while parking.
• Notify the Operations Centre of chock times for billing purposes.
• Follow all statutory regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
• Report any non‑compliance and take corrective action.
• Report Foreign Object Debris (FOD) to the Operations Centre for clean‑up.
• Report fuel or oil spills to the Operations Centre for clean‑up.
• Report incidents and accidents to the Coordinator and Airside Safety for investigation and follow‑up.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organisational goals.

Required Skills and Experience

• Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) – mandatory.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence – mandatory.
• Basic competence in Microsoft Office.

Additional Requirements

• Provide proof of qualifications, NQF level and credits.
• Be eligible for Top Security Clearance within three months of appointment.
