The Department of the Premier in the Western Cape Government is offering a permanent position for a qualified Assistant Director to lead and manage the Demand and Logistics services. This exciting opportunity is located in Cape Town (CBD), Western Cape.

Job Purpose

As an Assistant Director in Demand and Logistics, the successful candidate will oversee and supervise staff in the unit, ensuring smooth operations and the efficient management of demand and logistics services. The role involves providing guidance and leadership, handling complex tasks, and ensuring effective management of resources.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and Manage Team: Lead a team of staff performing demand and logistics tasks, ensuring high performance, effective training, and staff development.
Performance Management: Regularly monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing motivation and support to achieve departmental goals.
Procurement and Logistics Management: Oversee demand management, logistics, and procurement processes, ensuring compliance with best practices and government regulations.
Strategic Sourcing: Apply knowledge of Strategic Sourcing, Preferential Procurement, and BEE to support efficient procurement strategies.
Policy Development and Implementation: Assist in policy development and implementation related to demand and logistics.
Staff Planning and Development: Manage recruitment, selection, leave management, and overall well-being of staff.

Minimum Requirements

📌 Educational Qualifications:
3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.

📌 Experience:
✔ A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in demand and logistics or procurement management.

📌 Additional Requirements:
Valid code B driver’s license.
LOGIS system certification is recommended.

Key Competencies

🔹 Knowledge of Financial Norms such as PFMA, NTR’s, and PTI’s.
🔹 Strong understanding of budgeting processes, procurement policies, and contract management.
🔹 Proficient in computer literacy and strategic thinking.
🔹 Excellent communication (written and verbal) and people management skills.
🔹 Skilled in problem solving, conflict resolution, planning, and evaluation.
🔹 Ability to research and maintain effective networks relevant to demand and logistics.

Remuneration

💰 The salary package for this position ranges from R 444,036 to R 532,602 per annum (Salary Level 9).

Note: Additional service benefits such as medical assistance, housing assistance, and pension fund contributions are available based on applicable regulations and agreements.
