Qualifications & Experience

Education:
- Minimum Grade 12 (NQF 4) or equivalent.
- A National Diploma in HRM/Public Administration (NQF 6) is required.

Experience:
- A minimum of three to five years’ experience in administration and supervisory roles.

Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge and application of the Compensation Occupation Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet usage, and mainframe systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong customer orientation.
- Proven supervisory and team leadership experience.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and telephone etiquette skills.
- Familiarity with Group Life Insurance Scheme (GLIS) policies and the medical administration processes for the regular force.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is recommended.
- Ability to secure a confidential security clearance within 12 months of appointment.
Key Responsibilities

Administrative Duties:
- Manage injury and disease cases for Defence Act Personnel (DAP) and Public Service Act Personnel (PSAP) on duty.
- Oversee administration related to personnel losses, funerals, and the Group Life Insurance Scheme (GLIS).
- Process the inclusion/re-inclusion of dependants of DAP for medical privileges.

Operational Oversight:
- Attend relevant meetings as required.
- Inspect and verify all registers maintained by administrative staff.
- Compile and update post profiles and duty rosters for the Medical Section.

Supervisory & Developmental Functions:
- Assess and monitor subordinate performance, recognizing excellence and identifying areas for improvement.
- Support career management initiatives, encouraging staff development and promotion opportunities.
- Nominate Medical Section staff for specialized and outstanding courses.

Additional Duties:
- Conduct investigations into critical enquiries and draft responses for senior authority approval.
- Complete bi-annual performance assessments for all subordinates and compile corresponding reports.
