Job Purpose

The selected candidate will be responsible for administering service benefits for Western Cape Government employees. This includes leave administration, processing leave payments, maintaining HR databases, and liaising with relevant departments.

Minimum Requirements

  • Educational Qualification:
    • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification).
  • Preferred Qualifications & Additional Experience:
    • Experience in Human Resource Management.
    • A PERSAL Introduction Certificate will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service Benefits & Leave Administration:
    • Process and administer leave applications, leave audits, and payments.
    • Ensure accurate data capturing of leave records.
    • Oversee PILIR (Policy and Procedure on Incapacity Leave and Ill-health Retirement) administration.
  • HR Database & Record Management:
    • Update and maintain HR records, databases, and leave management systems.
  • Stakeholder & Departmental Liaison:
    • Collaborate with the Call Centre, Client Relations Unit (CRU) Managers, and other departments to address HR queries.
  • Correspondence & Formal Documentation:
    • Draft formal letters, memorandums, and email correspondence related to HR matters.

Key Competencies & Skills

  • Knowledge & Understanding of:
    • Human Resource legislation and policies governing service benefits and leave administration.
    • Service conditions and the application of government HR policies.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Attention to detail and ability to work with high levels of confidentiality.
    • Strong administrative and organizational skills to meet deadlines under pressure.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite for document processing and database management.
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
