Job Title: Chief Professional Nurse

Position Purpose

• Provide Primary Health Care services, including preventative, curative, and rehabilitative care, while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Coordinate school outreach programs and onboard health services on the Phelophepa train.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver quality primary healthcare services to clinic clients.
• Supervise nursing students, aligning their training with core curriculum requirements.
• Mentor and coach nursing students for professional development.
• Apply Primary Health Care principles and maintain professional excellence.
• Ensure proper use and safety of medical equipment and supplies.
• Provide accurate statistics for service evaluation and planning.
• Conduct school outreach programs, including health screenings and education.
• Identify and address health issues in school children, such as ear problems and diabetes.
• Perform audiometry tests for students with hearing difficulties.
• Treat minor ailments and follow up with teachers on student health needs.
• Implement geriatric healthcare services in Phelophepa-served communities.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in nursing.
• 4-year Diploma or Degree in General Nursing (with specializations in Community Health, Psychiatry, and Midwifery recommended).
• Diploma in Nursing Science, Community Health, or Midwifery from a recognized institution.
• Diploma in Primary Health Care Nursing (Clinical Nursing Assessment, Diagnosis, Treatment, and Care) is a plus.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse, Midwife, or Community Health Nurse is mandatory.
• Registration with SANC for Psychiatric Nursing is an advantage.
• Qualifications in Nursing Administration and Nurse Education are beneficial.
