Minimum Qualification: Masters Degree (NQF7) in Plant Production/Horticulture/Agronomy

Experience Required: 8 years post-qualification field management experience

Location: Mpumalanga (Primary base with national travel requirements)

Field: Agriculture/Research

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee gene bank operations across multiple ARC research stations nationwide
  • Coordinate field/nursery management teams and resource allocation
  • Manage project budgets and prepare technical reports for stakeholders
  • Maintain comprehensive genetic database systems
  • Develop improved conservation techniques and research initiatives
  • Supervise technical staff and conduct capacity-building programs
  • Engage with agricultural stakeholders and present research findings

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven expertise in crop production systems and farm management
  • Advanced knowledge of irrigation practices and pest management
  • Demonstrated project coordination and financial management skills
  • National-level collaboration experience in agricultural sector
  • Valid EB driver’s license with extensive travel capability
  • Proficiency in database management and reporting software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional registration with scientific body
  • Record of scientific publications
  • Experience in subtropical fruit cultivation
