Deputy Director: Internal Audit (Ref No. DOTP 36/2025)

Job Purpose

Lead the evaluation of governance, risk management, and internal controls while ensuring adherence to audit methodologies. Manage strategic projects, deliver timely results, and maintain stakeholder relationships within the Western Cape Government.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 3 years of supervisory/management experience in internal audit (ASD level)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Valid Code B Driver’s License (Note: Applicants with disabilities requiring transport access are encouraged to apply)

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop risk-based 3-year strategic and annual operational IT audit plans.
  • Design engagement programs to assess control adequacy and effectiveness.
  • Execute audits including IT general controls, application reviews, and security assessments.
  • Deliver high-quality audit reports and presentations to senior management.
  • Manage staff productivity, client relations, and liaise with external auditors.

Skills & Expertise

Knowledge:

  • Audit standards, COBIT framework, governance principles, and legislative policies.

Skills:

  • Analytical thinking, teamwork, CAATs, Teammate software, and MS Office proficiency.
