Deputy Director: Local Government Budget Analysis

About Us:

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • National Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 6/7) in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • 4+ years’ experience (including 2 years at Assistant Director level)
  • Experience in budget analysis and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of municipal financial regulations and budget processes

Core Responsibilities:

Budget Management:

  • Coordinate municipal budget processes per MFMA regulations
  • Monitor budget compliance and provide feedback
  • Support provincial treasuries on budget reforms

Financial Monitoring:

  • Track municipal spending and service delivery
  • Analyze financial reports and implementation plans
  • Prepare reports for national stakeholders

Intergovernmental Coordination:

  • Monitor financial data submissions for national publications
  • Evaluate grant allocation structures

Stakeholder Relations:

  • Guide municipalities on financial reporting
  • Promote timely submission of required documents

Key Competencies:

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of municipal governance frameworks
  • Report writing proficiency
  • Intergovernmental coordination experience
