Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Qualified Clinic Sister to join their team in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage and operate a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic situated within the pharmacy. The Clinic Sister will work within the scope of a registered nursing practitioner to ensure the clinic runs smoothly and offers excellent service to patients.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
- Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- BHF Registration
- 2-3 years of experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Advantageous:
- 5+ years of experience as a Primary Health Care Sister
- Familiarity with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra
Job Description:
As the Clinic Sister, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering Clinic Services: Perform clinic duties in line with industry regulations and best practices.
- Managing Clinic Operations: Oversee the clinic’s operations, ensuring that services are available and efficient. Manage the “feet-per-hour” rate and set clear objectives to enhance patient flow.
- Accurate Record-Keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate records of patient information, following up on necessary communications to ensure patient care is continuous.
- Operational Hours: Ensure the clinic is open and functional according to the established operational hours.
- Claims Management: Process claims in an accurate and timely manner, complying with industry standards.
- Stock and Equipment Management: Ensure that all clinic stock and equipment are in good working order and that supplies are adequately stocked.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain positive relationships with patients, store and dispensary managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and other healthcare professionals.
Competencies:
Essential:
- Knowledge of Health Practices: Experience in community health nursing, primary health care, family planning, HIV/AIDS counseling, emergency care, wound care, and pharmacology.
- Strong Communication Skills: A strong command of written and spoken English.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to assess monthly clinic statistics and commission details.
- Financial Acumen: Understanding of the financial implications of meeting or missing monthly targets.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills, ability to manage time effectively, and self-motivate.
- Emotional Intelligence: Ability to manage a team, foster collaboration, and maintain trust and honesty.
Advantageous:
- Bilingual
- Completion of courses such as Baby Immunisation, Family Planning, Primary Health Care, and Breastfeeding.
- Knowledge of business objectives in a healthcare setting.
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Willingness to work retail hours.
- Physically fit and healthy to manage the demands of a busy Primary Health Care Clinic.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
- South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record.
