Role and Responsibilities

As a Security Guard at Dis-Chem Pharmacies, your primary role will be to safeguard the premises, personnel, and assets. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining vigilance and identifying any suspicious activity to prevent security breaches.
• Conducting regular patrols to enhance visibility and deter criminal behavior.
• Monitoring and controlling access points to ensure only authorized individuals enter the premises.
• Investigating and reporting any signs of damage or unlawful entry.
• Providing a professional, courteous, and helpful presence for customers, employees, and visitors.
• Conducting access control procedures, including searching staff, suppliers, and company merchandisers.
• Keeping accurate security records, including registers and occurrence books.
• Ensuring the security of company assets by preventing theft and malicious activities.
• Performing personnel and vehicle searches as per company security protocols.
• Reporting any suspicious incidents to management and submitting detailed reports.
• Responding swiftly and appropriately during emergencies, including contacting authorities when necessary.
• Monitoring surveillance systems and alarm systems for any security threats.
• Assisting emergency teams and ensuring orderly evacuation procedures in crisis situations.
• Providing ongoing security advice and maintaining a high level of awareness at all times.
• Enforcing company rules and regulations to minimize risks and maintain a safe environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• PSIRA registration and accreditation (Grade C required).
• Knowledge of PSIRA regulations and security industry standards.
• Basic fire emergency and Health & Safety training.
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking); knowledge of a third language is an advantage.
• South African citizenship.
• Clear criminal and credit record (MIE verification required).
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transport (PDP required for drivers).
