Dis-Chem Pharmacies is offering an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Manager at their Sandton locations. This position allows a dynamic individual to learn and assist with store operations under the guidance of an experienced store manager. The role is designed for those eager to expand their skills in the retail environment, particularly in retail management disciplines including stock management, customer service, and expense control.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Trainee Manager, your day-to-day activities will include overseeing stock flow, managing shrinkage, assisting with promotional stock displays, and ensuring that all goods received are in line with company standards. You’ll also help achieve store sales targets, facilitate the daily cash-up process, and support the management team with scheduling and HR-related tasks. You’ll be expected to ensure accurate reconciliation and reporting, maintaining the highest standards of customer service, and providing effective leadership to staff members.
Essential Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12
- 1-2 years’ experience in store retail management, including stock management, cash handling, and customer service.
- Diploma in Financial Admin or a relevant 3-year qualification.
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
- Ability to work retail hours.
Job Specifications:
You will assist with daily store activities, ensuring that stock levels are accurate and promotions are executed effectively. You’ll also be expected to monitor store expenses, support the management team in driving sales, and ensure staff are trained according to company policies. Your role will also involve supporting HR processes, including staff scheduling and leave management.
Competencies Required:
- Sound knowledge of retail store management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
- A good understanding of financial principles like GP, VAT, and mark-ups.
- Strong analytical and time-management skills.
- The ability to work under pressure and handle customer complaints professionally.
Special Conditions:
- You must be willing and able to work retail hours and be flexible in terms of travel.
- A clear credit and criminal record is required.
