Dis-Chem Pharmacies, based in Midrand, is offering an exciting opportunity for a Social Marketing Manager to join their team at the Head Office. This position is primarily focused on developing and executing progressive social media strategies to enhance Biogen’s presence across current and new marketing platforms. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving online engagement and promoting Biogen’s brand through targeted, impactful social media campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Campaign Planning: The Social Marketing Manager will be responsible for the development, management, and execution of social media strategies designed to increase engagement, drive qualified traffic to Biogen’s web platforms, and generate leads. This includes managing existing social media platforms and exploring new channels for communication. The role will require the creation of engaging written or graphic content, such as newsletters, blog posts, and social media messages. A regular editorial calendar will be implemented to plan and promote timely marketing campaigns.

Additionally, the role involves monitoring trends within the industry and understanding audience personas to generate content ideas that resonate with target markets. The goal is to drive market share by strategically marketing products through relevant social media channels.

Marketing Campaign Delivery: Working in close collaboration with the Biogen Social Marketing Manager, this role will ensure that all campaigns align with the business strategy and are seamlessly integrated across all business areas. The Social Marketing Manager will oversee the execution of marketing campaigns, ensuring they are executed on time and in alignment with key business objectives.

Customer and Stakeholder Engagement: Engagement with customers is crucial, as the goal is to convert followers into customers and to turn existing customers into brand advocates on social media. Regular engagement will help maintain and nurture online relationships, while also ensuring brand consistency across various messaging platforms. This will be achieved through ongoing interactions with teams like advertising, product development, and brand management to ensure aligned messaging across the organization.

Research and Reporting: A key component of the role will involve researching competitors’ social media activities, ensuring Biogen’s brand stays ahead of trends while maintaining safety and success in the market. Regular progress reports on the effectiveness of social campaigns will be submitted to senior marketing management. Furthermore, the Social Marketing Manager will analyse customer data and interactions to refine future campaigns and improve overall marketing strategy.

Team Management: The role also involves managing and leading a Social Marketing team. The ideal candidate will foster a culture of accountability and innovation within the team, guiding them through social media implementation best practices and ensuring consistent performance management. Setting objectives, tracking progress, and supporting team members are integral to the role.

Required Qualifications & Experience

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A Grade 12 certificate or Senior Certificate.
  • A Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or certification in marketing, social media, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in social marketing.
  • Experience in managing marketing projects is an advantage, especially within a similar field.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a related field are highly desirable.

Additional Skills:

  • Proficiency in social media applications (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and marketing programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership abilities with a strong focus on team development and performance.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make timely, informed decisions.
  • Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
