Dis-Chem is seeking a Qualified Clinic Practitioner to join their team in Pinecrest, responsible for managing and operating a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic within the pharmacy. The role requires a dedicated and experienced nursing professional who will work within the scope of practice of a registered nursing practitioner, offering a range of health services to patients.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
- Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- BHF Registration
- 2-3 years of experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Advantageous:
- At least 5 years of experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
- Experience with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra
Job Description:
As a Clinic Sister at Dis-Chem, you will be responsible for ensuring the clinic is operated efficiently and professionally. Key duties include:
- Providing primary health care services according to industry regulations and best practices.
- Managing clinic operations to improve patient flow and meet set targets, such as the “feet-per-hour” rate.
- Keeping detailed and accurate records of patient interactions and following up on communications.
- Ensuring the clinic is open and functional as per operational hours, processing claims in a timely manner, and managing stock levels and equipment to meet industry standards.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders such as patients, store and dispensary managers, medical aids, suppliers, and community health professionals.
Competencies:
Essential:
- Knowledge in community health nursing, primary health care, family planning, HIV/AIDS counseling, wound care, emergency care, and pharmacology.
- Strong command of the English language (both written and verbal).
- Time management and self-motivation with the ability to manage both yourself and a team.
- Understanding of the financial implications of meeting or missing monthly targets.
- Strong analytical skills to assess clinic statistics and commissions.
- Emotional intelligence with entrepreneurial drive and a high level of integrity.
Advantageous:
- Bilingual
- Specialized courses such as Baby Immunisation, Family Planning, Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, and Disease Management.
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Willingness to work retail hours and stay physically fit to manage the demands of the role.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
- South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record.
