Job Details:

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting bulk materials such as soil, gravel, or construction debris to and from designated locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Load, transport, and off-load materials according to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ensure proper loading and even distribution of materials to prevent instability.
• Monitor the environment for hazards like power lines, workers, or obstacles before raising the tipper bed.
• Operate the vehicle safely, adhering to traffic laws and site-specific regulations.

Safety and Compliance:

• Comply with company policies and state regulations regarding truck operation, load management, and driver hours.
• Report any accidents, injuries, or mechanical failures promptly.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on job sites.
• Use proper techniques to prevent slips and falls when entering or exiting the cab.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Complete pre-shift inspection reports and notify your supervisor of any defects.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tires, brakes, lights, fluid levels, and hydraulic systems.
• Perform basic routine maintenance, such as checking fluids and keeping the vehicle clean.
• Report significant mechanical issues like hydraulic leaks to your supervisor.
• Submit daily truck reports, including logs of hours, materials transported, and any vehicle defects.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Competency certificate to operate a Tipper truck.
• Valid Code C1 Driver’s License with PDP (Professional Driving Permit).

Experience:

• At least 3 years of experience driving and operating tipper trucks.
• Experience working in an earthmoving environment is advantageous.

• Physical ability to perform tasks related to loading and unloading.
• Punctuality and reliability in meeting delivery deadlines.
• Strong route planning and navigation skills.
• Patience and resilience under stressful driving conditions.
• Attention to detail and safety awareness.
