Electrical Inspector – eThekwini Municipality

Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
Employment Type: Full Time
Experience: 3+ Years
Minimum Education: Matric + Trade Certification

Special Working Conditions:

  • 40-hour work week (5 days a week)
  • Overtime required for service demands
  • PPE provided per safety regulations
  • Must qualify as Safety Competent Person within 6 months

Primary Objective:

Conduct inspections and maintenance specifications for electrical systems up to 11kV capacity.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Inspect overhead lines, substations, and underground systems
  • Issue repair orders with completion timelines
  • Diagnose system faults and restore power supply
  • Coordinate pole testing schedules
  • Manage material procurement for maintenance work
  • Operate specialized electrical testing equipment
  • Maintain earth fault indicators and auto reclosers

Essential Qualifications:

  • Electrician Trade Certification
  • NTC2/NCV3 Electrical Engineering qualification

  • 3+ years electrical reticulation experience
