Life Cosmos Hospital in Mpumalanga is looking for a dedicated and hardworking individual to fill the role of Admission Clerk. Reporting to Admissions Supervisor, Petro Prodehl, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the hospital’s admissions department. Position Overview

As an Admission Clerk, your role will involve providing exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, medical staff, and other hospital personnel. You will ensure the accurate admission of all patients using the Impilo System, adhering to Life Healthcare’s protocols and procedures. In addition, you will be responsible for managing co-payments, private fees, and liaising with medical aid providers for authorization of admissions and pre-admissions.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Offering prompt and courteous service to all hospital stakeholders, including patients, doctors, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Accurately admitting patients into the Impilo System and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed to a high standard.
  • Managing the collection of co-payments and private fees and applying relevant funder rules concerning hospitalization (knowledge of funder benefits and co-payment protocols will be an advantage).
  • Liaising with medical aids to secure authorization for patient admissions.
  • Ensuring correct billing for Accident & Emergency (A&E) services and overseeing the release of accounts.
  • Handling cash transactions in line with company protocols and maintaining high standards of cash management.
  • Answering phone calls and addressing inquiries in accordance with Life Healthcare policies.
  • Flexibility in working hours, including night shifts, weekends, and overtime, when required.

Requirements

To apply for this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and skills:

  • A Grade 12 qualification with computer proficiency (a skills test may be conducted).
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to multitask and thrive under pressure.
  • Familiarity with the Impilo System is a requirement.
  • A strong, reliable work ethic, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience in handling cash transactions (an ITC check will be performed).
  • An understanding of the private healthcare industry and its key players would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of funder rules and procedures related to hospitalization is an advantage.
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
