Platco Digital is looking for a dynamic and experienced General Manager: Retail and Production to join our team in Gauteng. Reporting directly to the Head of Group Finance, this senior-level role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development and execution of the retail and marketing strategy for OpenView, while managing operations, stakeholder relationships, and a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

Retail and Marketing Strategy Development:

  • Strategy Creation: Develop and execute a comprehensive retail and marketing strategy aimed at enhancing the OpenView box and platform’s sales and distribution model.
  • Business Planning: Design and implement a business plan that aligns with the company’s short-, medium-, and long-term goals, ensuring consistent growth and achievement of sales objectives.
  • Budget Management: Oversee all expenditures, ensuring they remain within approved budgets, with a specific focus on stock management and cost control.
  • Distribution Model Development: Innovate and refine the distribution model to ensure timely and efficient product supply, meeting market demands.

Distribution and Manufacturing Operations:

  • Stakeholder Agreements: Ensure that all agreements with distributors, suppliers, and other stakeholders are in line with current business practices and objectives.
  • Efficient Supply Chain: Manage distributor stock holdings and production schedules to align with sales lead times, ensuring readiness for peak trading periods.
  • Product Availability and Quality: Ensure a wide variety of accessible, high-quality products for consumers and maintain compliance with established quality standards.

Stakeholder Relationship Management:

  • Interpersonal Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, distributors, wholesalers, and retailers to foster a stable and collaborative working environment.
  • Account Development: Work with Area Sales Managers to develop and implement account plans for regional sales, ensuring the expansion of small retailer and installer accounts.
  • Coordinated Sales Efforts: Ensure a coordinated approach to sales, distribution, and installation efforts for OpenView products, working closely with both internal and external teams.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Team Management: Lead, manage, and develop the sales, account management, and merchandising teams to ensure high performance and growth.
  • Skill Enhancement: Oversee team performance and provide opportunities for skill enhancement and role-specific development, ensuring the team’s success.
  • Operational Oversight: Supervise daily operations, ensuring accountability and timely, accurate reporting.

Business Reporting and Insights:

  • Reporting: Prepare and present weekly activity reports, covering sales, marketing, performance, and installations with detailed insights into market trends and performance.
  • Supply Chain Monitoring: Provide detailed progress reports on OpenView HD supply chain activities and production metrics, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Marketing and Activity Tracking: Track and report on distributor and trade organisation marketing efforts to ensure alignment with business goals.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar senior-level role, demonstrating success in retail, production, and distribution management.
