Transnet Corporate Centre is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join its dynamic team. This critical position will play a key role in supporting the success of Transnet’s Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) by overseeing and executing multiple project work streams. The Project Manager will work closely with project teams to ensure that quality outputs are delivered on time and within the defined scope and budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Supervision: Manage project teams throughout the project lifecycle, including defining project objectives, scope, and the level of effort required. Ensure the timely completion of projects while managing resources effectively.
  • Project Monitoring and Management: Oversee progress against the project plan by managing timelines, resources, and budget. Resolve issues that arise to keep projects on track and ensure business goals are met.
  • Team Development: Assign duties, responsibilities, and authority to project team members. Establish standards and procedures for project documentation and reporting, and lead regular reviews, audits, and updates.
  • Closure and Archiving: Ensure projects are properly closed and records are archived. Conduct post-implementation reviews and document lessons learned to improve future project processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Portfolio Manager, Procurement Division, and other internal departments to develop project mandates, business cases, and Request for Proposals (RFP). Facilitate the planning and risk assessment phases and ensure comprehensive project documentation.
  • Managing and Controlling: Update project plans regularly, manage issue and risk logs, and prepare status reports for stakeholders. Ensure the project follows the established risk management and change control processes.
  • Project Review: Lead project reviews throughout all phases, ensuring that financial feasibility and risk assessments are completed to meet Transnet’s strategic and financial goals.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Certifications: PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile Practitioner certification.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on IT infrastructure or operations. A proven track record in managing medium to high complexity projects or programs is required.
  • Business Analysis: 3 to 4 years of experience in business analysis or strategic business planning, including business case development.
