The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, within the Western Cape Government, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join their team as a Supply Chain Management Practitioner. This permanent position, based in Cape Town’s CBD, offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to contribute to efficient government procurement processes.

About the Role

As a Supply Chain Management Practitioner, you will be responsible for overseeing supply chain processes, including demand management, acquisition management, contract management, and logistics. The role requires strong administrative and financial management skills to ensure compliance with government regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Demand & Acquisition Management – Oversee the planning and acquisition of goods and services for departmental needs.
Contract Management – Manage supplier contracts, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Logistics & Payments – Supervise procurement processes, including order placement, tracking, and supplier payments.
Database & Filing Management – Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions and supplier information.
General Administration – Support SCM processes by handling documentation, reporting, and compliance-related tasks.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

📌 National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or higher qualification in a relevant field
📌 Minimum 1 year of administrative experience
📌 Knowledge of PFMA, SCM regulations, and procurement prescripts
📌 Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
📌 Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualification & Experience

Relevant experience in Supply Chain Management or Financial Management
