Life Beacon Bay Hospital is excited to announce the opening of three Admission Clerk positions within the hospital’s Patient Services department. Reporting to the Reception Supervisor, Brigitt Raffie, the successful candidates will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the admissions process, providing support to patients and medical staff, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the department.

Key Responsibilities

As an Admission Clerk, you will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing the patient experience while maintaining administrative efficiency. Your duties will include:

  • Patient-Centered Admission Process
    You will maintain a well-organized, professional, and patient-focused admission environment, ensuring that all processes are accurate and effective in reducing risk factors.
  • Bed Booking and Coordination
    Accurately manage the bed booking procedure and liaise with medical teams to ensure that all pre-booked patients are properly assigned to their respective wards.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration
    You will work closely with credit controllers, case managers, reception staff, nurses, and doctors to ensure seamless coordination in the admission process. Effective teamwork will be key to achieving the department’s objectives.
  • Liaison with Medical Aids
    As part of your role, you will liaise with medical aids to secure authorization for admissions, ensuring that all necessary paperwork and approvals are in place before a patient is admitted.
  • Risk Management
    By adhering to hospital protocols, you will help manage and mitigate potential risks, ensuring that all procedures align with Life Beacon Bay Hospital’s policies.
  • General Administration
    You will handle various administrative tasks, including scanning, filing, and assisting with the authorization process. Additionally, you may be asked to assist with case management duties as required.
  • Cash Handling and Documentation
    Managing petty cash and banking duties will be part of your daily responsibilities, along with collecting co-payments, private fees, and related documentation when applicable.
  • Support and Ad-Hoc Administration
    You will also provide support services and assist with other ad-hoc administrative tasks assigned by the Reception Supervisor, ensuring the department operates smoothly.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 qualification.
  • Computer literacy, particularly with Impilo and MS Office (knowledge of Impilo is advantageous).
  • A motivated, enthusiastic, and well-organized individual with a strong ability to handle pressure.
  • Shift and overtime flexibility to meet the demands of the hospital.
  • A customer service-oriented attitude with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with bed bookings and medical terminology.
  • Prior experience in admissions is highly desirable.
