GrandWest is looking for a Floor Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Food & Beverage (F&B) outlets. This role involves managing staff, maintaining high service standards, ensuring profitability, and delivering excellent customer experiences. The Floor Manager will play a key role in implementing strategies for success, product enhancements, and operational efficiency within the F&B department.
Key Responsibilities:
F&B Plan Implementation:
- Align the development of objectives for F&B outlets based on unit strategy.
- Manage communication and achievement of F&B goals, ensuring all milestones are met.
- Analyze food and beverage product trends and conduct benchmarking against leading industry standards.
- Coordinate marketing and promotional efforts, ensuring alignment with BBBEE goals.
Shift Management:
- Oversee staff scheduling and ensure proper coverage during shifts.
- Conduct briefings, manage shift handovers, and ensure smooth floor operations.
- Be present on the floor during service, addressing customer requests, concerns, and complaints.
- Supervise stock control and manage equipment functionality according to SOPs.
Product Enhancement:
- Conduct competitor analysis and identify opportunities to enhance products.
- Work with F&B management to develop and implement new product ideas.
- Measure product performance and ROI, ensuring continuous improvement.
Standards & Governance:
- Ensure adherence to F&B standards and processes.
- Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular walkabouts to ensure all front and back-of-house areas meet operational standards.
- Foster a culture of waste management and ensure staff training on relevant policies.
People Management & Development:
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing F&B team.
- Identify training needs, monitor employee engagement, and contribute to succession planning.
- Coach outlet managers to achieve KPIs and improve team performance.
- Manage employee relations and oversee compliance with labor policies.
Budget Management:
- Assist in preparing budget forecasts and control costs for F&B outlets.
- Oversee cost of sales, stock management, and procurement to minimize cost fluctuations.
- Participate in stock take activities and ensure accurate reporting.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Handle escalations and complaints, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Frequently interact with guests, especially VIPs, ensuring their needs are met.
- Support VIP services for events and functions, and manage customer interactions effectively.
Reporting:
- Consolidate financial results, monitor staff productivity, and track absenteeism.
- Report on sales targets and remedial actions when targets are missed.
- Provide regular updates on operations to senior management.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: 3-year Hotel School Diploma or equivalent National Qualification.
- Experience: 5-6 years in the F&B industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- F&B experience in a casino environment is a plus.
- Skills: Knowledge of F&B costing, product knowledge, stock control, and operational management.
- Proficient in Micros/Opera and intermediate computer skills.
- Core Competencies: Problem-solving, decision-making, planning, and relationship development.
