Dis-Chem Pharmacies is currently looking for a dedicated Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant to join their team at the Mall of Africa store. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all of the patients’ medicine-related needs are met, delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care.
As a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting with the sale, compounding, preparation, and dispensing of medicines, ensuring that all processes comply with the required regulations. You will be responsible for helping with the management of stock, interpreting prescriptions, and offering advice to patients regarding medication.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Working experience on Unisolv
- Computer literate – MS Office
- Sound numerical skills
- Strong communication skills in both English and a second language
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous Skills
- Knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations
- Experience in SAP and E-Scripting
- 3rd Additional Language
- Knowledge of drug and family planning
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the sale and compounding of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines
- Prepare and manufacture non-sterile medicines according to approved formulas
- Repackage medicines and assist with stock control and distribution
- Read, interpret, and prepare prescriptions, ensuring medication is dispensed accurately
- Provide patients with medication instructions and offer advice on proper usage
- Track patient scripts, follow up on appointments, and ensure correct medical aid submissions
- Maintain customer profiles and assist with stock management, reporting low or out-of-stock levels to the dispensary manager
- Support with bi-annual stock takes and ensure compliance with Dis-Chem’s SOPs

- Proficiency in English and an additional language

- Problem-solving abilities and the ability to work under pressure
- Team player, trustworthy, and honest
- Time management skills
Special Conditions
- Registered with the SAPC
- Willing to work retail hours
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods
- Clear credit and criminal records
- Valid driver’s license
