eThekwini Municipality, located in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking a Tyre Assistant to join their dynamic Plant and Engineering department within the Workshop branch. This permanent role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a keen eye for detail and experience in the tyre industry to manage administrative tasks related to tyre purchase, repair, and disposal.

Key Responsibilities

As a Tyre Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth administrative operations of the tyre department. Your main duties will include:

  • Preparing requisitions for tyre purchases and maintaining up-to-date records on vehicle makes and tyre sizes.
  • Coordinating tyre and tube requisitions, including liaising with internal stores or external suppliers for timely delivery.
  • Processing costing schedules for tyres and tubes before they are passed to the data capture clerk for input.
  • Generating tyre and tube job cards for vehicles in both the car and truck depot.
  • Updating job cards with relevant invoice information from suppliers.
  • Managing work schedules for tyre fitters and coordinating stock replenishments with the Foreman.
  • Communicating with customers to ensure vehicles are available for tyre servicing.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) qualification or equivalent.
  • At least 3 months of experience related to tyres, with a solid understanding of tyre services.
  • Computer literacy is essential to manage administrative tasks efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional experience with tyres (6 months) and advanced computer skills will be advantageous.

The Tyre Assistant role comes with a competitive salary, with the remuneration ranging from R139,675.56 to R176,171.88 per annum. The role also offers the following benefits:
