eThekwini Municipality, located in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking a skilled Draughtsperson to join its Water and Sanitation Engineering Department. The position, based in the Waste Water Design branch, offers a permanent role with competitive benefits, including medical aid, housing subsidy, and pension fund.

Job Purpose:

The Draughtsperson will be responsible for applying technical draughting procedures to produce accurate plans and drawings for water and wastewater projects. The role involves utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and other relevant software to create detailed technical drawings, ensuring that all specifications and requirements are met efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather technical information and specifications for inclusion in water and wastewater-related drawings.
  • Apply technical draughting techniques and principles to develop accurate plans and designs.
  • Update and maintain technical records and drawings in line with project specifications.
  • Ensure drawings meet the required standards and project goals.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of construction technology and graphic communication.
  • Proficient in CAD and related technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and planning abilities.
  • Customer-focused with an orientation toward service delivery.

Essential Requirements:

  • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Architectural Draughting or related field.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in draughting.
  • Valid driver’s license and computer literacy.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 3 years of relevant experience in draughting.
