eThekwini Municipality is excited to announce a career opportunity for a Senior Supervisor within the Debt Management department, based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. This permanent, full-time role offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual to contribute to the efficient recovery of outstanding water debt within the municipality.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and controlling all aspects related to water debt recovery. The core responsibilities include:

  • Supervising subordinates and field staff, ensuring adherence to council policies.
  • Managing stores to ensure accurate records and maintaining optimal stock levels.
  • Ensuring that the technical functions of flow limiters are in line with council policies.
  • Addressing customer queries and complaints promptly, following the Batho Pele principles.
  • Supervising the disconnections and reconnections of water services and overseeing plumbing contractors.
  • Monitoring and supervising all technical functions within the department.

Skills and Competencies Required:

  • Excellent planning and organizing skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Data processing and analysis proficiency.
  • Ability to engage in effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Client and customer-focused with strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Familiarity with business processes and direction setting.

Essential Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent qualification.
  • An Administrative certificate or a relevant qualification.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in a supervisory role.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • A valid motor vehicle driving license.

Preferred Requirements:

  • A Diploma (NQF Level 6) in administration or a related field.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in debt management or customer services.
