The Gauteng Office of the Premier is excited to offer a Research and Policy Development Internship Programme, designed to provide recent graduates with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while enhancing their qualifications in the fields of Public Administration, Policy Development, Governance, and related disciplines.

This 24-month internship offers a structured environment where young professionals can apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting, helping them to grow and develop in the public sector. The programme is an ideal opportunity for those who have completed their studies and are seeking experiential training to complement their qualifications.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Must be a South African citizen and reside in Gauteng.
  • Required qualifications include a degree or diploma in Public Administration, Public Management & Governance, Human Sciences, Monitoring & Evaluation, Public Policy, Development Studies, Political Science, or Administration.
  • The programme is intended for unemployed graduates who have not yet participated in a government internship.
  • Ideal candidates will have completed their academic theory and now require practical experience to finalize their qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interns will be involved in research, policy development, and assisting with tasks related to the post. They will gain hands-on experience and exposure to government policy-making processes.

  • A completed Z83 form (available on the DPSA website).
  • A motivation letter indicating the desired placement area.
  • A detailed curriculum vitae (CV).
  • Certified copies of the identity document, senior certificate, qualifications, and academic transcript.
