Timberland is seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join their team as a Trainee Manager in Johannesburg South. This permanent, full-time position is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their retail management career with a globally recognized brand.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Trainee Manager, your primary responsibility will be to support the store management team in achieving sales goals, meeting customer service targets, and ensuring smooth store operations. You will assist in managing both sales generation and operational functions while fostering a positive and productive work environment.

  • Team Leadership and Sales Generation: You will be responsible for leading a high-performance team, driving sales, and ensuring that the store meets or exceeds its sales targets. Your leadership will be key in motivating the team to deliver outstanding results.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Creating a welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable environment for both customers and co-workers will be one of your top priorities. You will ensure the team consistently provides excellent service to guarantee customer satisfaction.
  • Operational Management: You will assist in overseeing day-to-day store operations, including staff scheduling, store presentation, and managing human resources, operational tasks, and loss prevention issues. Ensuring that these processes run smoothly is critical to maximizing productivity and profitability.
  • Store Standards and Communication: You will work to maintain high presentation standards within the store and communicate sales performance and market trends to headquarters. Your ability to relay critical information clearly and promptly will be essential.
  • Staff Scheduling and Store Opening/Closing: You will assist in ensuring that the store is effectively staffed and managed, including handling store opening and closing procedures.
  • Additional Managerial Duties: As part of your development, you will be required to perform additional managerial responsibilities as needed.

Requirements:

  • Customer Service Expertise: A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Strong Communication Skills: You must have excellent verbal and written communication abilities, allowing you to effectively engage with both customers and your team.
  • Positive Attitude: We are looking for a cheerful, fast learner who brings a positive attitude to the team.
  • Previous Retail Experience: Experience in a retail environment is an asset, although not mandatory.
  • Computer Knowledge: Familiarity with retail computer systems is a plus.
  • Team Player: While the role requires working well with a team, you should also be capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Organizational and Multitasking Skills: You should be able to handle multiple tasks effectively while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Bilingual: Being bilingual is a significant advantage.
