Transnet Freight Rail is looking for a skilled IT Support Analyst to provide essential technical support and maintenance for information technology systems across its operations in Isando, Gauteng. This non-permanent role requires an experienced professional who can diagnose, repair, and optimize IT equipment to ensure seamless business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

The IT Support Analyst will be responsible for maintaining uptime, security, and efficiency across Transnet’s ICT infrastructure. Key duties include:

1. IT Infrastructure Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Ensure network, internet, and mail connectivity remain operational.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues for users.
  • Provide basic server configurations and support for file sharing, printers, and other IT resources.
  • Implement ICT security measures and best practices.
  • Assist in backup management for user devices, including laptops, tablets, and mobile phones.

2. End-User Technical Support

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT-related issues.
  • Provide technical assistance for software applications used in business operations.
  • Oversee repair and replacement of ICT equipment to reduce downtime.
  • Perform quality assurance testing on new software and hardware.
  • Share ICT tips and system downtime updates with end-users.

3. Hardware & Software Management

  • Support printers, video conferencing systems, and multimedia equipment.
  • Configure and maintain projectors, microphones, teleconferencing devices, and digital signage systems.
  • Manage software licenses and hardware inventories.
  • Ensure adequate stock of printer cartridges and IT supplies.

4. Networking & Remote Access Support

  • Maintain LAN, WAN, WiFi, and mobile network (3G, APN) connections.
  • Support remote access for mobile devices and tablets.
  • Manage external IT service providers handling outsourced functions such as printers, networks, and audiovisual systems.

5. Project Management & Compliance

  • Execute minor ICT projects for business units.
  • Monitor and control third-party IT staff working on-site.
  • Maintain compliance with governance and risk management policies.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • National Diploma or Advanced Diploma (NQF 6/7) in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • A+ and N+ Certifications (Required).
  • 5+ years’ experience in desktop support (Lenovo, HP, Dell, Acer, Asus).
  • ITIL Foundation Certification (Advantageous).
  • Valid Driver’s License (Code 08) & Own Transport (Preferred).
  • Ability to travel within South Africa and neighboring countries if required.
