Transnet Corporate Centre is seeking a dynamic General Manager: Digital and Business Enablement to provide strategic leadership in driving the digital transformation strategy. This role will be key in ensuring that Transnet leverages new technologies and innovative solutions to achieve business objectives, enhance efficiencies, and create value for stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Digital Strategy Leadership: Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of a comprehensive digital transformation strategy that aligns with Transnet’s business goals and values.
  • Technological Advancements: Oversee the adoption and implementation of emerging technologies such as cloud computing, big data, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence to improve business operations and achieve significant business benefits.
  • Innovation and Best Practices: Foster a culture of digital innovation, promoting the use of cutting-edge technologies to drive operational excellence and better serve Transnet’s stakeholders and customers.
  • Cloud Solutions & Automation: Ensure the effective operation of Transnet’s cloud infrastructure and the automation of business processes and systems to support Transnet’s operations and business objectives.
  • Thought Leadership: Provide guidance and insight into the latest technological advancements and trends to ensure Transnet stays ahead of the curve and maintains a competitive edge in the market.
  • Industry Partnerships: Collaborate with industry partners to execute innovative digital solutions that support Transnet’s diverse business segments and ensure the organization remains digitally advanced.
  • Governance and Compliance: Establish and implement governance strategies aligned with Transnet’s policies, procedures, and legal frameworks. Promote strong corporate governance in digital transformation and technology innovation.
  • Budget and Financial Oversight: Manage and monitor the budget for the digital and business enablement function, ensuring compliance with budgeting guidelines and effective financial management.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Oversee the performance and value delivery of external service providers, fostering strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, contractors, and service providers.
  • Performance Management: Ensure adherence to Transnet’s performance management policies, and promote the development and training of staff to meet the organization’s business goals.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Technology, or Computer Science (NQF Level 7).
  • Experience: At least 15 years of experience in a large enterprise with complex operations, including 10 years at a senior managerial level. Extensive experience in introducing leading technology and process optimization practices within organizations is required.
  • Digital Expertise: In-depth knowledge of contemporary digital landscapes and experience in integrating disruptive technologies into business operations.
