About the Role

Lead Knysna Municipality’s Environmental Management Division to drive ecological sustainability, community development, and compliance with environmental regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree/B Tech in Environmental Management Sciences.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, including 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Environmental Management Inspector’s Certificate.
  • Valid driver’s license and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience in grant funding applications (advantageous).

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee strategic planning, operations, and budgeting for the Environmental Management Division.
  • Lead invasive plant clearance, wetland/river rehabilitation, and coastal management initiatives.
  • Enforce environmental laws and ensure municipal compliance with climate change strategies.
  • Engage stakeholders, develop community skills, and integrate new technologies.
  • Manage procurement processes, funding opportunities, and risk assessments.
  • Supervise staff and ensure timely reporting in line with legislation.
