The Maintenance Work South Western Division within the Electricity Unit in Durban is hiring a Depot Supervisor to oversee essential operations at the depot. About the Role: Leading Depot Operations
As a Depot Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing depot staff, overseeing equipment and materials, and ensuring smooth daily operations for both the Maintenance and Construction Branches. The role requires a highly organized individual with a strong technical background in electrical maintenance and operations.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Supervise & Motivate Staff – Lead and train the depot workforce, ensuring efficiency and discipline.
✔ Resource & Equipment Management – Control materials, non-stock items, tools, and depot plant equipment.
✔ Workforce Allocation – Assign labor to various gangs and oversee standby staff.
✔ Compliance & Safety – Maintain records in accordance with the Municipality’s SHE Management System.
✔ Inventory & Asset Control – Monitor depot assets, truck stock, reclaimed materials, and consumables.
✔ Depot Maintenance – Oversee cleanliness, repairs, and accident prevention strategies.
✔ Transport & Logistics – Arrange transportation for staff, materials, and equipment.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
📌 Trade-Tested Electrician certification
📌 NTC2 or NCV3 in Electrical Engineering (from a registered FET College)
📌 Valid Driver’s License (Code EB or EC1)
📌 Valid First Aid Certificate (or obtained within 6-12 months of appointment)
📌 Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience
📌 Ability to pass a proficiency test on Construction & Maintenance Operations systems
