The City of Ekurhuleni is looking for an Executive Manager for Technical Services and Compliance to join their team. This is a senior position that requires a highly skilled professional with extensive experience in municipal electrical distribution networks and asset management. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient functioning of the Energy Department, managing operations, maintenance, and compliance across the municipality’s electrical distribution network.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
  • Registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa)
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in managing an Asset Care Centre and overseeing the operations, maintenance, and refurbishment of municipal electrical distribution networks
  • Strong knowledge of the application of OHS Act regulations within electrical distribution
  • Demonstrated expertise in municipal electrical distribution network design, construction, maintenance, and refurbishment
  • Experience in asset management and compliance within the electrical distribution sector

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic technical support to the Head of Department and Divisional Heads in Operations and Maintenance to meet the department’s objectives and comply with relevant legislation.
  • Utilize analytical skills and critical thinking to contribute to the strategic development of the department.
  • Ensure effective service delivery by ensuring compliance with electrical installation standards, optimizing equipment and asset use, and minimizing disruptions to customers.
  • Manage the maintenance, refurbishment, and asset management practices in accordance with national and international standards.
  • Oversee proper documentation and record-keeping, ensuring that budgets for operations and refurbishments are effectively utilized.
  • Ensure full compliance with legislation, organizational policies, and Council resolutions, addressing risk management and minimizing non-compliance issues.
  • Control and manage the budget, adhering to financial regulations and preventing unnecessary financial losses.
  • Uphold the Batho Pele principles to foster good customer relations and ensure efficient, productive service delivery.
  • Lead and manage a high level of productivity within the department.
