Job Purpose
Manage the operational use of the declared road network to ensure compliance with mobility standards, legislative requirements, and effective utilization of road infrastructure.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.Eng/B.Sc. Eng) or equivalent
- 3+ years post-qualification engineering experience
- Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa)
- Valid Code B driver’s license
Preferred Experience
- Experience in public sector road infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with transport infrastructure planning and road network management
- Proficiency in evaluating Traffic Impact Studies and Arterial Management Plans
- Knowledge of land use planning and its impact on road systems
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain road use management strategies
- Assess spatial planning impacts on road infrastructure
- Review development proposals affecting road networks
- Oversee the creation of Arterial Management Plans
- Collaborate with stakeholders in transport planning
- Supervise engineering teams and ensure compliance with standards
- Manage budgets, resource allocation, and reporting
Required Competencies
Technical Knowledge:
- Traffic analysis and transport planning regulations (e.g., National Land Transport Act)
- Road Access Management Guidelines and spatial planning principles
Skills:
- Analytical thinking and data-driven decision-making
- Project management and conflict resolution
- Proficiency in MS Office and engineering software
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement
