Rand Water Hiring: Shotblast Operator Position Available in Johannesburg

Rand Water, a key provider of bulk water services in South Africa, is looking for a Skilled Shotblast Operator to join its Central Depot / Bulk Distribution team in Johannesburg. This permanent position is ideal for candidates with experience in abrasive blasting and surface preparation for valves, flanges, and pipes before coating and painting.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Shotblast Operator, your primary role will involve operating abrasive blasting equipment to clean and prepare surfaces for further processing. Your duties will include:

• Material Handling: Using a gantry crane to transport materials for blasting.
• Abrasive Blasting: Removing dirt, grease, paint, and other residues from valves, pipes, and components.
• Equipment Operation: Setting up and maintaining the blast booth and shotblast machine for optimal performance.
• Quality Control & Documentation: Ensuring surfaces are properly cleaned and maintaining records through job cards, logbooks, and checklists.
• Safety & Housekeeping: Conducting safety inspections and keeping work areas clean and organized.

Minimum Requirements:

To be eligible for this position, candidates must have:

• Grade 12 or N3 qualification.
• 2-3 years of experience in a similar environment.
• Knowledge of shotblasting techniques and safety procedures.
