Key Responsibilities
In this Scientist (Production Level) role, your primary responsibilities will include:
✔ Developing and implementing farm animal research methodologies and standard operating procedures.
✔ Conducting data analysis and ensuring compliance with research standards and regulations.
✔ Engaging in research and development to drive innovations in animal science.
✔ Contributing to human capital development by mentoring junior staff and developing future professionals in the field.
Minimum Requirements
📌 Educational Qualification:
✔ A 4-year Natural Science Degree (BSc Hons or BSc Agric), recognized by the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP).
✔ Compulsory SACNASP registration as a professional Natural Scientist in Animal Science.
📌 Experience:
✔ At least 3 years of post-qualification experience in animal science research.
📌 Additional Requirements:
✔ A valid Code B driver’s license is required.
Desirable Qualifications
📌 MSc or PhD in Animal Sciences.
📌 Proven experience in dairy research is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies
🔹 Scientific knowledge in programme and project management, scientific methodologies, and data analysis.
🔹 Proficiency in technical report writing, policy development, and presentation skills.
🔹 Strong team leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
🔹 Ability to work independently and innovate in a fast-paced environment.
Remuneration
💰 Grade A: R 721,476
💰 Grade C: R 1,084,368 (OSD as prescribed)
Note: The cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration package includes all benefits, such as medical assistance, housing, and pension-fund contributions, in accordance with relevant prescripts.
