Position Details
- Employment Type: Full-Time
- Education Requirement: PhD in Entomology, Environmental Science, Biological Science or related field
- Experience: 8+ years post-PhD research leadership experience
- Location: Roodeplaat, Gauteng
- Specialization: Agricultural Research, Weed Management
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning and business plan development for weed research programs
- Manage scientific projects aligning with ARC objectives and funder requirements
- Oversee team operations including budget management and resource allocation
- Mentor research staff and conduct performance evaluations
- Coordinate technology transfer through publications and industry engagements
- Maintain research infrastructure and equipment planning
- Produce annual progress reports for stakeholders
- Maintain minimum annual output of 2 peer-reviewed publications
Candidate Requirements
- PhD in relevant scientific discipline
- Minimum 20 career publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Proven success in securing research funding
- Demonstrated national/international research partnerships
- Strong strategic planning and operational management skills
- NRF C1 rating (advantageous)
- Professional registration with scientific body (advantageous)
