Position Details
Job Title: Entomology Researcher (EPV)
Location: Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal
Employment Type: Full-Time
Education Requirement: PhD or MSc with 5+ years’ experience
Field: Agricultural Research (Entomology Focus)
Key Responsibilities
Research & Innovation
- Design and execute field studies on tsetse flies and veterinary insects
- Produce scientific papers and practical guidelines
- Develop research proposals and secure funding
Project Leadership
- Manage field stations, budgets, and research teams
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and lab regulations
- Monitor project milestones and outcomes
Collaboration & Development
- Partner with national/international research teams
- Supervise graduate students and junior researchers
- Organize training workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions
Candidate Requirements
- PhD in Entomology/Zoology or MSc with 5+ years’ field experience
- Minimum 3 peer-reviewed publications
- Proven experience securing research grants (advantageous)
- Strong fieldwork capabilities in rural environments
- Excellent technical writing and data analysis skills
