Position Overview

The ARC seeks a qualified researcher to join our team in Onderstepoort, Gauteng. This role focuses on advancing veterinary parasitology through innovative research and contributing to South Africa’s agricultural development.

Experience: Minimum 3 years post-qualification

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop diagnostic assays for molecular and serological testing
  • Conduct epidemiological studies on tick-borne diseases
  • Manage tick colonies and acaricide resistance research
  • Lead taxonomic studies on ticks and pathogens
  • Design and execute research projects from concept to implementation
  • Author scientific publications and present findings at conferences
  • Supervise junior staff and graduate students
  • Manage project budgets and resource allocation
  • Identify funding opportunities and submit research proposals

Essential Qualifications

  • Advanced degree with relevant research experience
  • Minimum 3-5 peer-reviewed publications
  • Proven record in project management
  • Experience in student supervision (advantageous)
  • SAVC registration (preferred)
