Researcher: Geo-Information Systems (Fixed-Term Contract – 3 Years)

Academic Requirement: PhD in Geographical Information Systems/Remote Sensing or Natural Sciences

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead agricultural research and technology development projects
  • Design and implement geo-spatial research initiatives using GIS/Remote Sensing
  • Develop research proposals and secure project funding
  • Manage project resources including budgets and team leadership
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences
  • Mentor junior researchers and postgraduate students
  • Maintain specialized research equipment and software
  • Collaborate with government, industry, and academic partners

Essential Requirements

  • PhD in relevant scientific discipline
  • Proven experience in geo-spatial modeling and statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated research expertise through peer-reviewed publications (minimum 3)
  • Proficiency in GIS software and remote sensing technologies
  • Valid South African driver’s license (Code 8/EB)
  • Fieldwork experience with rural communities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage interdisciplinary research teams
