The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead the SABC Video and Entertainment commercial sales teams across the country. As the Head of Sales for SABC’s Video & Entertainment channels, this role will drive exceptional performance in surpassing sales revenue targets across multiple platforms, including digital and on-ground channels. The role is pivotal in increasing market share, driving profitable growth, and enhancing the team’s ability to deliver integrated sales solutions within the SABC ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Culture: Foster a culture of high performance, customer-centricity, and team engagement across the sales division.
- Sales & Market Growth: Develop and execute strategies to increase market share and revenue, ensuring consistent growth within the SABC Video and Entertainment segments, as measured by MIT net levy data reports.
- Client Relationship Management: Cultivate strong, long-lasting relationships with senior agency contacts and C-suite clients, offering specialized media solutions that optimize campaign performance and revenue.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Sales Intelligence, Creative, Product, and Channel teams to innovate and commercialize new offerings that contribute to revenue growth.
- Team Management: Motivate and lead the sales team to exceed targets, while ensuring they have the tools and support to succeed.
- Sales Strategy & Execution: Formulate, manage, and execute sales strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders to enhance revenue opportunities and expand market share.
- Customer Focus: Proactively address customer needs and resolve issues to maintain satisfaction, while contributing to ongoing industry visibility through trade marketing efforts.
- Market Analysis & Reporting: Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and revenue shifts to identify new business opportunities, ensuring SABC remains competitive and profitable.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure strict adherence to sales policies, manage operational risk, and maintain internal controls to guarantee governance and compliance within the sales function.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Educational Requirements: A relevant business qualification or post-graduate degree (NQF 8 level). Supplementary media and sales training is highly recommended.
- Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years in sales and/or management experience, preferably in media sales. Proven leadership capabilities and a strong sales track record are essential.
- Industry Knowledge: Extensive experience and well-established networks within the advertising industry, particularly with decision-makers and ad spend influencers.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and persuasion skills.
- Business acumen with a focus on commercial growth and sales performance.
- Ability to work under pressure, independently, and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and industry tools.
- A results-driven, energetic individual who is committed to success.

- Ability to solve problems swiftly while navigating organizational processes and procedures.
- Excellent planning and time management skills to ensure smooth sales operations and timely reporting.
- Demonstrated success in leading and motivating teams to achieve high sales targets and drive growth.
- Ensure compliance with governance standards, including Occupational Health and Safety Act, risk management, and internal controls.
