Position Summary:
SABC is seeking a dynamic and results-driven National Sales Manager to spearhead its Digital Sales initiatives. This role is designed to leverage SABC’s digital audiences across multiple platforms, including VE, Radio, OTT, Web, Social, and Mobile, to increase advertising revenue. The National Sales Manager will oversee a team of digital sales specialists, driving both direct and indirect revenue generation through digital channels. With a focus on achieving and surpassing revenue targets, the successful candidate will play a key role in expanding market share and delivering integrated digital solutions across the SABC ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Strategy and Revenue Management:
- Develop and manage comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and grow market share across SABC’s digital platforms.
- Direct the management of digital sales revenues, both through a dedicated digital sales team and collaborations with broader sales teams and external partners.
- Take full accountability for the performance of the digital sales portfolio, driving both individual and team sales targets to success.
- Monitor the sales strategies and ensure tactical pricing initiatives are effectively implemented to maximize revenue growth.
- Market Share Growth:
- Work closely with the Digital division to develop operational sales strategies aimed at increasing market share against key competitors.
- Manage and analyze customer segments, identifying new opportunities for revenue generation and market expansion.
- Drive integrated sales and marketing solutions across the SABC ecosystem, including audio, digital, video, entertainment, social, and events.
- Client and Stakeholder Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, agencies, and other key stakeholders to foster long-term partnerships and business opportunities.
- Leverage industry insights and data to optimize revenue strategies and effectively influence spending patterns in favor of SABC media sales.
- Ensure that all sales deals, commitments, and contractual agreements with clients and third parties are effectively managed and reported on monthly.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and manage the digital sales team, ensuring they are motivated, well-trained, and equipped to meet and exceed sales goals.
- Provide formal training and development programs to ensure ongoing growth and succession planning for team members.
- Implement a robust performance management system in line with organizational policies to ensure optimal performance and career progression.
- Research, Analytics, and Competitor Analysis:
- Utilize data and insights from market research to continuously adapt sales strategies and optimize revenue.
- Track and analyze competitor activities, identifying market shifts and new business opportunities to maintain a competitive edge.
- Oversee the maintenance of a comprehensive client database to ensure updated and accurate records for all customer interactions.
- Risk and Compliance Management:
- Monitor and report on operational risks and compliance issues, ensuring adherence to internal controls and governance measures.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures to ensure smooth and compliant operations across the digital sales team.
- Industry Engagement and Brand Representation:
- Attend industry-related functions and events to ensure SABC’s visibility and maintain a positive image in the marketplace.
- Foster strong relationships with SABC platforms and other stakeholders, acting as a key representative for SABC Sales in the broader media landscape.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of a relevant degree or postgraduate diploma (NQF 7/8) in Sales, Communication, Marketing, or a related field.
- At least 5-8 years of experience in sales, with a strong background in sales management, ideally within the media industry.
- Supplementary training and certifications in media, digital, and sales-related courses are preferred.
- A proven track record of success in media sales, with a strong focus on digital platforms and advertising.

- Leadership & Management: Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team toward achieving sales targets.
- Industry Knowledge: Established networks and relationships within the advertising industry, with insight into emerging trends and decision-makers.
