SABC Sport is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Brand Manager to join the Corporate Affairs and Marketing division. This role reports directly to the Marketing Manager of SABC Sport and plays a critical part in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the SABC Sport brand and marketing strategies. As the Brand Manager, you will oversee national campaigns, public relations efforts, and work to ensure the brand is positioned effectively to achieve its platform objectives.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Strategic Development and Planning:
    • Lead the development and execution of the SABC Sport brand and PR strategies, aligning them with the network’s overall strategic goals.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate strategic marketing and communication plans, ensuring brand consistency across all platforms.
  2. Campaign Management and Cost Efficiency:
    • Collaborate with the SABC Sport platform to create, execute, and assess various national campaigns to enhance the brand’s presence.
    • Develop influencer management strategies and create effective communication campaigns for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Manage the production of marketing and communications materials, including collateral for SABC Sport’s platforms.
    • Provide strategic recommendations to senior executives on marketing and public relations strategies.
  3. Public Relations and Media Engagement:
    • Cultivate relationships with key media, bloggers, and social influencers to strengthen the SABC Sport brand.
    • Write and edit compelling content for various publications such as press releases, in-house magazines, and newsletters.
    • Profile key athletes, highlight groundbreaking initiatives, and promote SABC Sport programs to the public.
  4. Governance, Risk, and Compliance:
    • Monitor and report on operational risks, implementing internal controls to ensure governance is maintained across all projects.
    • Manage financial risks, ensuring the brand’s integrity is preserved, and that the company complies with relevant policies and regulations.
    • Execute internal risk audits and address any identified gaps in operational procedures.
  5. Stakeholder and Customer Management:
    • Build and nurture relationships with external industry and media stakeholders.
    • Manage influencer relations and ensure customer satisfaction by resolving queries and complaints promptly, in line with service standards.
    • Create value in customer interactions, ensuring a positive and memorable experience with the brand.
  6. Financial Oversight:
    • Oversee the operational budget for the SABC Sport brand, ensuring financial discipline and accountability.
    • Ensure that all expenditures remain within the approved budget, minimizing waste and optimizing resource allocation.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field (NQF Level 6/7).
  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years’ experience in Brand and PR Management, ideally within the broadcasting or media industry.
  • Knowledge:
    • Proficiency in budget management, brand marketing, and public relations.
    • Familiarity with PFMA and national treasury regulations.
    • Experience in events management, project management, and Microsoft Office suite.
    • A comprehensive understanding of the broadcasting landscape and applicable legislative frameworks.
