Position Details
Job Type: Full Time
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Atmospheric Sciences (Master’s preferred)
Experience: 2+ years in data quality assurance/scientific environment
Location: Centurion, Gauteng
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor surface observation network data availability
- Ensure daily climate database updates
- Collaborate with internal teams on data-related matters
- Participate in quality assurance projects for weather observation systems
- Engage in national/international climate observation programs
- Support research initiatives and develop improved data processes
- Maintain quality management systems and mentor junior staff
Requirements
- 4-year degree in Atmospheric Sciences or equivalent
- Proven experience in data quality assurance
- Skills in SQL, GIS (ArcGIS preferred), and statistical analysis
- Weather Observer certification (advantageous)
- Research/publication experience (preferred)
