Sector Specific Trainee – East London

Job Details

  • Qualification: Grade 12/Matric (Advantageous: TVET N6 in Logistics/Transport)
  • Location: East London, Eastern Cape
  • Job Field: Internship

Programme Purpose

This 12-month training program aims to develop a pipeline for key roles within Transnet Port Terminals (TPT). Learners will be placed in specific areas according to their academic background, career goals, and business needs. Preference will be given to female candidates residing in the Buffalo City Municipality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily tasks as assigned for equipment operation.
  • Handle commodities according to daily operational needs.
  • Complete logbooks and record equipment defects.
  • Operate data terminals where required.
  • Maintain work-related radio communication.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report defects.
  • Report incidents, accidents, and daily operational issues.
  • Use safety equipment like fire extinguishers when needed.
  • Follow terminal safety policies and procedures.
  • Use the terminal operating system (Navis) and follow on-screen instructions.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Grade 12/Matric (TVET N6 in Logistics/Transport is advantageous).
  • Age: 18 to 35 years.
  • Knowledge of terminal safety rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with cargo types and equipment.
  • Skills in communication, problem-solving, and time management.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
  • Basic computer literacy.
