Job Description

The Senior Manager: Payroll and Benefits will oversee Transnet’s Corporate Centre Payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing. The role involves managing payroll staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and administering employee benefit programs effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee monthly payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develop and implement payroll systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and payroll regulations.
  • Train and manage payroll staff.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and resolve payroll-related issues.
  • Analyze trends and manage payroll processes, including interfaces with Finance and third parties.
  • Ensure compliance with Transnet policies and agreements.
  • Troubleshoot system functionality and implement data validation processes.
  • Manage payroll audits and risk compliance.

Benefits Administration Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain benefits policies, guidelines, and manuals.
  • Conduct organizational surveys to assess employee needs and analyze results.
  • Research market trends and best practices in benefits administration.
  • Evaluate and improve current benefit programs.
  • Interface with stakeholders to resolve queries and implement solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Transnet Retirement Fund and medical aid scheme providers.
  • Ensure accurate organization of benefits-related documents and reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field.
  • 5 – 8 years of relevant experience in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Relevant certifications in Benefits and Benefits Administration.
  • Proficiency in SAP HCM, Microsoft Office Suite, and Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas).

Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of legislation (e.g., BCEA, LRA, EEA, Tax, PFMA, NCA, Companies Act, UIF).
  • Excellent leadership, strategic, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance and compliance.
