Senior Manager: SHEQ, Security & Facilities Management

Organization Overview

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is a key national entity under the Ministry of Environmental Affairs, operating as a public institution since 2001. We serve as South Africa’s authoritative source for weather forecasting and climate monitoring.

Position Summary

We seek an experienced professional to lead our Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ), Security, and Facilities Management operations. This senior role requires strategic oversight of multiple operational areas to ensure organizational compliance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

SHEQ Management

  • Develop and implement organizational SHEQ strategies
  • Maintain ISO 9001 compliance and safety regulations
  • Oversee health/safety programs across all locations
  • Manage records and knowledge systems

Facilities & Security

  • Maintain safe, functional office environments nationwide
  • Manage lease agreements and service providers
  • Coordinate facility maintenance and security protocols

Fleet & Travel Management

  • Oversee vehicle fleet operations
  • Implement cost-effective travel solutions
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations

Governance & Compliance

  • Coordinate risk management strategies
  • Manage audit processes and compliance reporting
  • Maintain regulatory certifications

Requirements

Education

  • Honours Degree in Business Management/Health & Safety or related field
  • ISO 9001/OHS Lead Auditor certification

Experience

  • 7+ years SHEQ/Facilities management experience
  • 3+ years senior management experience
  • Proven track record in contract management
  • Knowledge of PFMA and Treasury Regulations
