Position Details

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Light Current) or equivalent
  • Experience Needed: Minimum 5 years in Electrical/Electronic Engineering environment
  • Location: Bloemfontein, Free State

  • Driver’s License: Code EB/08 (without endorsements)

Core Responsibilities

Technical Operations & Maintenance

  • Maintain optimal performance of weather observation systems (AWS, RADAR, lightning detection)
  • Conduct equipment diagnostics, repairs, and calibration
  • Implement network monitoring and inspection programs
  • Coordinate infrastructure planning and replacement

Process Improvement

  • Develop maintenance protocols and business continuity plans
  • Analyze system performance data for continuous improvement
  • Recommend asset lifecycle management strategies

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure adherence to national/international technical standards
  • Prepare daily infrastructure status reports
  • Manage regional risk register and audit processes

Team Leadership

  • Mentor technical staff and promote safety culture
  • Coordinate regional outreach programs

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven leadership capabilities
  • Strong problem-solving skills in technical environments
  • Knowledge of meteorological equipment maintenance
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001)
