Key Responsibilities
In this role, the SCM Clerk will be responsible for supporting the Department’s efforts in analyzing and mitigating risks associated with SCM processes and compliance. The main duties include:
- Clerical Support: Gathering, updating, compiling, scanning, and maintaining SCM documentation, ensuring alignment with the relevant legislative frameworks.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Tracking changes in the SCM legislative environment and consolidating departmental inputs for updates in SCM policies and procedures.
- Legal Support: Assisting with the compilation of documents related to legal matters such as PAIA applications, cession applications, conflict of interest cases, and more. Ensuring all related registers are up to date.
- Risk Management: Assisting in the annual risk assessment and the development of the SCM risk response plan.
- Administrative Activities: Providing support in monitoring and reporting on remedial actions, disputes, and investigations within the SCM framework. Also responsible for logistical arrangements for meetings and contractor sessions.
Minimum Requirements

- Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) or an equivalent qualification.
Desirable Qualifications
- A basic understanding of SCM procedures and the legislative framework is highly recommended.
Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Strong job knowledge of SCM processes and compliance matters.
- Skills in typing, mathematics, and computer usage, especially with MS Office.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with a focus on teamwork and flexibility.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure while adhering to deadlines.
Additional Information
Shortlisted candidates will be required to:
- Submit documentation for verification and undergo criminal record vetting.
- Attend interviews and practical assessments, if necessary, on a date determined by the department.
- The selection process will follow the Employment Equity (EE) targets set by the department.
